Investors Ready to Listen at Startup Weekend Space Coast

MELBOURNE, Florida - The Florida Institute of Technology's Nathan M. Bisk College of Business is holding Startup Weekend Space Coast beginning November 15 to provide entrepreneurs access to potential investors and allow all participants to learn more about the challenges and excitement of start-up businesses. 

The event is sponsored by the Economic Development Commission of Florida's Space Coas Florida Tech and TrepHub, a local business incubator, are the event's primary organizers. 

Startup Weekend will take place at Florida Tech's Center for Aeronautics and Innovation, 1050 West NASA Blvd. in Melbourne. Participants will be given a set time to make a business-idea pitch, will break into groups and share ideas. The groups will be allowed 54 hours to build a prototype and then pitch it to judges, investors and the community at a gathering November 17

Anyone may pitch an idea and receive feedback from their peers. This includes entrepreneurs who have founded companies or seek a cofounder, or who would like to meet a new business associate or learn a skill outside the realm of their usual job. 

The winners of the competition will be seeded in the RCBiznovation event, which carries a $50,000 award and a slot in Florida Venture Forums' Early Stage Competition. Winners will also be entered into the International Global Startup Battle with prizes up to $500,000 and pitch opportunities to well-funded venture capital groups. 

The ONLY way to enter this international competition is to win one of the local Startup Weekend events being held nationwide during the month of November.
