Gas Prices On The Rise

TALLAHASSEE, Florida -- Gas prices have risen 3 cents a gallon on average across the U.S in the past month to $3.24 a gallon, according to GasBuddy.com.  Florida saw a much sharper increase during the same time period, nearly 30 cents a gallon, to $3.408 a gallon on average statewide.

The highest Florida gas prices remain in the tourist districts of Orlando, Florida, topping out at $5.99 a gallon in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.  Charlie's Auto & Truck Repair, located in Satellite Beach, Florida, also made it in the top 10 gas stations for the most expensive gas in the Sunshine State.  But as most Brevard County residents know, Charlie's gas station sells gasoline that has not been diluted with ethanol which is needed to fuel small engines such as lawnmowers and boat engines as well as classic cars on Florida's Space Coast.

Further north, Florida State University students have yet another reason to celebrate this morning following FSU being ranked #1 in last night's BCS standings, that's because the cheapest gas in Florida is clustering around Tallahassee with gas prices as low as $3.17 a gallon.  Pensacola is the only other Florida city to hit the $3.17 price.

Aside from Charlie's Auto & Truck Repair, gas prices across Brevard County are widely ranging this week, from as low as $3.21 a gallon to as high as $3.68 a gallon.  So it pays for Brevard drivers to shop around for gas this work week.
